REGION 4 REPORT:

Planning Ahead

I would like to thank the members of Region 4 for your confidence in re-electing me to represent you and work with you. Our region is going to host the Conference of State Council Presidents’ winter meeting in Savannah, and Florida will be the host state for the National Leadership Conference next August in Orlando. I hope that chapters from all over Region 4 will send at least one person to the Leadership Conference.

Since Louisville, I have visited the Florida State Council and the Enterprise, Alabama, chapter. And I attended the Board of Directors meeting in Silver Spring. Since this was the Board’s first meeting, we had some housekeeping things to do. Committee members were announced for the national committees for the next two years. The national headquarters will be moving this fall or winter to 8719 Colesville Rd., Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

I attended the Mississippi State Council meeting the end of October and will be going to Puerto Rico in November. Barry Hagge and I will be doing a fact-finding trip to some of the VA clinics and the VA hospital to see if they have improved since the last time we were there. We will write an after-action report about our findings. A copy of that report will go to the VA.

I am very proud of all of our members, chapters, and state councils in Region 4. You do VVA proud.
