On November 8, VVA hosted a veterans’ health fair at FedExField, the home of the NFL Washington Redskins. The fair took place in the players’ locker room; all American veterans were offered free health screenings. The event received support from the Washington Redskins, GlaxoSmithKline, Men’s Health Network, the Prostate Cancer Education Council, and the American Heart Association.
Scores of veterans showed up. They took advantage of the opportunity to undergo a comprehensive series of free health screenings. That included screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, osteoporosis, blood pressure, prostate exams, spirometry, body fat, and grip strength. In addition, the veterans received a raft of free health educational materials.
Tom Berger coordinated VVA’s efforts.
