BY KATHY ANDRAS AND LINDA HABERKORN, CO-CHAIRS
The response to the AVVA Better Chance Scholarship was overwhelming. We had a total of twenty-one applications. This was the most we have ever received. The scholarship committee of Blanche Duggins, Arline Mabe, and Pat Newell reviewed the applications and picked three recipients to receive the scholarships.

The $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Laura Perez from Hurst, Texas. She will be attending the University of Arizona in August to work on a degree in Education and English with a double major in Social Services.

Ashley Perez, also of Hurst, Texas, will receive the $750 scholarship. She is an accomplished harp student, majoring in Music Performance at the University of Arizona School of Music in Tucson.

The AVVA $500 scholarship was awarded to Thomas Hall from Marietta, Georgia. He will attend the University of Tennessee in the fall, majoring in Business Administration.

Congratulations to all. Thanks again to the Scholarship Committee for a job well done.
