Membership Affairs COMMITTEE REPORT
BY BILL MEEKS, JR., CHAIR
Special thanks is necessary to VVA President John Rowan for
nominating me as the chair of the Membership Affairs Committee
and to the VVA Board of Directors for approving my fourth
consecutive tour of duty representing you on membership
matters. Although the composition of the committee awaits
final approval by the VVA Board during its October meeting,
the work of improving membership recruitment and retention
has continued since the Convention. The committee will
present its VVA Chapter Membership Development Plan to
the Conference of State Council Presidents and the VVA
Board of Directors at the October meeting, and the committee
hopes to have that plan on the VVA web site in the near
future.
The contract to publish the 2008 VVA Membership
Directory is being finalized; Harris-Connect again will
be contacting all VVA and AVVA members for their information
to be published in the directory, plus you will be asked
if you wish to order the directory. The membership totals
are slowly recovering from the annual February mass renewal
cycle that occurs each year. I ask all VVA chapters to
concentrate on the recovery of their non-renewed members
and, of course, continue your recruitment efforts.
Going
into 2008, the committee once again will evaluate our membership
tools (applications, forms, and web site services). Be sure
to check out our newest addition, “Frequently
Asked Membership Questions” on the VVA web site. Remember:
Your comments or suggestions are always welcome pertaining
to improving your membership experience with VVA.
