ETABO COMMITTEE REPORT

BY ALAN GIBSON, CHAIR

The Leadership Conference is over and those who attended reported they learned much and were very satisfied with the seminars. As always, not everyone could attend, so those who did need to be sure they get the information they received out to those who could not attend. We hope that we can get the handouts on line within the month. Keep checking the web site, www.vva.org

Layton Baker, a V.P. of U-Haul, gave an inspiring talk on how U-Haul is helping veterans with second jobs and how the company is working with new veterans by offering them employment and business opportunities. Pat Kerr presented information on how to help veterans find meaningful jobs at a living wage.

As most Vietnam veterans are nearing retirement age, it is never too early to plan for that event. Now is the time to figure out if work is needed to supplement lost income and how we can make ourselves feel useful. You may want to get better informed on all VVA issues and volunteer to help our fellow brothers and sisters, including the Veterans of Modern Warfare.

Remember: You need to take care of your own health first. You can’t hope for a better future until you stop wishing for a better past.
