On May 24, Acadiana, Louisiana, Chapter 141 sponsored a Memorial Day ceremony in Lafayette. As of May, Louisiana had lost 89 service personnel in the War on Terrorism. The event paid tribute to those who gave their lives.

Chapter life member Lloyd A. King presented the Gold Star families with a special poem. The most poignant moment of the ceremony was the ringing of a bell after the names of each of Louisiana’s 89 recently fallen were read. A balloon release followed.

Following the benediction, “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood was played, and those in attendance held hands to form a Circle of Comrades.

Following the ceremony, the crowd was treated to a gourmet meal compliments of Stephen LaBorda, the owner of Carrabbas Italian Grill.
