BY MARSHA FOUR, CHAIR

Resolutions are in for the 2009 Convention. On May 20, the committee attended a roundtable discussion at the request of Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.), chair of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, on “The Growing Needs of Women Veterans: Is the VA Ready?” Additionally, we have provided support letters for the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal to the WASPs of WWII and to the VA in support of a study on in-county Vietnam War women veterans.

I want to thank the entire committee, its liaisons, and its national office staff for the work and support they provided over the past two years.

WOMEN VETERAN MEMBERS SURVEY

The Women Veterans Committee is attempting to gather information from VVA women veteran members to determine their utilization of the VA for health care and benefits. We will turn this information into a thumbnail sketch of our women veteran members in congressional testimony when addressing issues of importance with the VA, and it will help us better understand our membership base. This survey was mailed to women veteran members.

If you have not yet completed this anonymous survey, please do so by going to the VVA Women Veterans web page, www.vva.org/Committees/WomenVeterans If you did not receive the  survey in the mail, please provide your new address to the National Membership Department by calling Ernestine Horton at 800-882-1316, ext. 142.

On behalf of the entire committee, thank you for your participation.
