Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund Report
By Edward Paul Greiff
Under the auspices of Vietnam Veterans of America and the
Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund, a Designate Support Task
Force was organized in January 2007 for the purpose of connecting
VVA and VVAF with American corporations and communities throughout
the nation to make them aware of the plight of veterans returning
from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Keeping with VVA’s founding
principle, “Never
again will one generation of veterans abandon another,” the
Support Task Force is launching several awareness initiatives
to generate support for the VVA and VVAF’s physical
and mental health care programs, as well as other special
programs to assimilate veterans into mainstream America.
Support
Task Force president Adrian Guglielmo was chosen because
of her extensive background in working for corporations on
diversity groups and the many awards she has received, ranging
from Wells Fargo’s Marketing Woman of the Year
to Wall Street’s Woman CEO of the Year.
Cheryl Krebs,
event vice president, and Viviana Pereira, marketing vice
president, and a team of thirty specialized consultants lead
the Support Task Force team founded by Guglielmo. They have
put together an aggressive initiative designed to get corporate
America and communities throughout the United States involved
in supporting the returning veterans. The tentative seven-program
initiative consists of:
1) National
Coin Donation Can Program
2) Capitol Records Concerts in major cities
3) Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and Coast Guard Dinner
4) Direct Marketing CEO Letter Program
5) Send-a-Message-to-a-Soldier Program
6) Diseases of Warfare Program
7) Veteran Wall Memorial/Credit Cards
The Support Task Force
kickoff campaign is a national Coin Donation Can program
to involve Mom and Pop businesses and individuals throughout
America. Small donation cans will be placed in various convenient
locations like gas stations, delis, office cafeterias, diners,
and other small establishments where individuals can be part
of the national program to help veterans. For information
on establishing a Coin Donation Can program, contact Cheryl
Krebs at 914-804-4828.
The Support
Task Force vision is to raise from $5 to $20 million for
VVA and VVAF’s programs for returning veterans.
The mission is to accomplish this by raising corporate and
public awareness about the needs of veterans and to do this
through win-win marketing programs.
All of the Support Task
Force programs are national-awareness campaigns designed
to get businesses and individuals involved in, as Guglielmo
put it, “honoring the sacrifices of
returning veterans who fought for this country and now would
like to join you in enjoying the American freedoms they fought
to preserve.”

Guglielmo at 917-968-1357.
