MEMBERSHIP MATTERS
BY MICHAEL LUNINI, MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR
It’s time to start getting ready for this year’s
National Convention in Springfield, Illinois. The Membership
Department is in the process of closing February’s
membership transactions and the membership year. Once this
is completed, the number of delegates each state council
and chapter is authorized to send to the Convention will
be released. We expect to have this information available
and in the mail by mid-March.
We will send a letter to each
state council and chapter, showing the number of active members
and the corresponding number of authorized delegates. If
you believe there are discrepancies in the numbers, contact
the VVA Membership Department. As a reminder, in accordance
with the VVA Constitution, Article I, Section 6, a chapter
with 25 or more active VVA members can send one delegate
to the Convention. With 50 members or more, the chapter can
send two delegates, and for every 50 additional members (100,
150, 200, etc.), another delegate can be sent. Each state
council can send one delegate, plus an additional delegate
for every 100 at-large members.
Once
you have your numbers, you can begin the delegate registration
process. This information will be covered in more detail
in the next issue of The VVA Veteran, which will also include
the registration form. You can also get instructions and
procedures and download registration forms from our website,
www.vva.org
No member-transfer requests will be processed starting April
19 until after the Convention.
You will find VVA and AVVA
life membership applications in this issue of The VVA Veteran.
These applications offer a chance to win a VVA or AVVA life
membership. At the National Convention we will draw one VVA
and one AVVA application received between March 1 and May
15. The lucky applicants will have their life membership
fees refunded in full. VVA applicants must submit a copy
of their DD-214 and meet eligibility requirements in order
to be selected. If you have thought about life membership,
now’s the time.
