By Kathy Andras, chair
We are now accepting applications for the AVVA Better Chance Scholarship. Established in January 1998, the scholarship is one way that AVVA helps veterans’ families. The scholarship targets average students who may not be eligible for academic scholarships but want to attend college. To be eligible for our scholarship, you must be a VVA or AVVA member; the spouse, child, or grandchild of a VVA or AVVA member; or a spouse, child, or grandchild of a servicemember who perished or remains missing in Vietnam. You must be registered in an accredited college, university, or post-secondary training institute. You must be able to prove financial need through the Federal Student Aid Application form.

Scholarship amounts are $1,000, $750, and $500. To obtain a complete form, go to the AVVA web site or contact the scholarship chair. Completed application packages should be mailed to: Kathy Andras, 9263 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037
