Gregory Leo Aguilar, 58, died August 24,
2006, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, from a diabetes-related heart
attack. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-74 with a tour
of duty in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division from 1967-68
and another with the 25th Infantry Division from January-December
1971. Aguilar was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Saint
Paul Chapter 320.
Donald A. Alexander, 65, died May 7, 2006,
in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, of colon cancer and Barretts esophogitis.
He served in the U.S. Army with a tour in Vietnam from 1966-67.
Alexander was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Soddy-Daisy
Chapter 942.
Guadalupe “Chappo” Alvarado, 58,
died June 5, 2006, in Flatonio, Texas. The cause of death
was stomach cancer. Alvarado served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam
in 1968 and 1969 assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion (Airborne),
503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Schulenburg Chapter 870.
Daniel
Kinsley Amigone, 62, died October 7, 2006, while
on vacation in Aruba. A resident of Fall River, Massachusetts,
he died of a massive heart attack. Amigone served in the
U.S. Army from 1966-69 and was assigned to the 199th Light
Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. During his tour, he received
a Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Star. He had volunteered
for Vietnam and served two tours of duty. He was severely
wounded from injuries incurred while on patrol when a man
in front of him stepped on a buried artillery round. He woke
up in a helicopter with a priest administering his last rites.
He had lost part of his jawbone, all of his lower teeth,
part of his gums, and was full of shrapnel. Amigone spent
the next six months in a military hospital in Germany recovering
from his injuries. Upon being honorably discharged, he became
active in the antiwar movement and spoke at several campus
rallies, describing what he had seen while in combat. He
also participated in a war tribunal in Stockholm organized
by Jean Paul Sartre and others. Upon his return, he founded
one of the first Vietnam Veterans Against the War organizations
in Syracuse, New York; he became a national VVAW leader.
Throughout the remainder of his life, he suffered from epileptic
seizures brought on by the trauma of his injuries. As part
of the Winter Soldier Project, he rendered testimony regarding
maltreatment of Vietnamese nationals. Amigone practiced social
work and eventually became a hospital administrator at Buffalo
General Hospital; he was instrumental in setting up the hospital’s
Community Mental Health Care Center. He moved to Fall River,
Massachusetts, to become the Superintendent of Corrigan Mental
Health Center, which he led for 15 years. In addition, Amigone
served as the Area Director of Mental Health for the southeastern
region of the state. For the last few years before his retirement,
he also was an administrator at the Brockton Multi-Service
Center. For the last 25 years, Amigone was a consultant for
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO). In this role, he would travel the world evaluating
hospitals. Amigone retired from the state several years ago
and had been consulting with JCAHO until the time of his
death. He was a life member and charter member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Westport Chapter 207.
Robert Anderson,
60, died recently in Graterford, Pennsylvania. A veteran
of the Vietnam War, Anderson was an at-large member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Pennsylvania.
David Arnett, 64, died August
27, 2006, in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, of renal failure. He
was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Minocqua Chapter 256.
Richard R. Barnhardt,
58, died recently in Eau Clair, Wisconsin. Barnhardt was
a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Eau Claire Chapter 5.
Dennis Eugene Barr, 59,
was killed in an automobile accident on July 13, 2006, in
Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Air Force for
25 years from 1966-91, retiring at the rank of Senior Master
Sergeant (E-8). He served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.
Barr was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Battle Creek
(Michigan) Chapter 313.
John E. Bellwoar, 54, died June 19,
2002, in Rio Grande, New Jersey. The cause of death was aspiration
of gastric content due to acute and chronic alcoholism. He
also had Agent Orange-related diabetes mellitis-type II.
Bellwoar served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam
War. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-North
Cape May Chapter 602.
Paul T. Bobenreith, Sr., 56, died July
22, 2006, in Saint Marys, Pennsylvania, from cancer. He served
in the U.S. Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1969-70
and 1971-72. Bobenreith was a life member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Saint Marys Chapter 948.
William Buonopane died
September 9, 2005, in Bellmawr, New Jersey. He was a veteran
of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Somers
Point Chapter 228.
Christopher J. Busse, 58, died December
10, 2005, in Plymouth, Michigan. The cause of death was cancer.
Busse served in the U.S. Army with a tour in Vietnam from
1968-69. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Plymouth
Chapter 528.
Thomas Butterfield, 59, died June 7, 2006, in
Plymouth, Michigan, from multiple sclerosis. He served in
the U.S. Army with a tour in Vietnam from October 1968 to
January 1970. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Plymouth
Chapter 528.
James E. Carlson, 63, died in the fall of 2005
in North Oxford, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the Vietnam
War and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Auburn
Chapter 554.
Michael R. Castner died June 21, 2006,
in Dousman, Wisconsin. He was a life member of Associates
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Oconomowoc Chapter 635.
Frank
A. Ciechanowski, 59, died May 18, 2006, in Milwaukee from
cancer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-67, including
a tour of duty in Vietnam as coordinator of radio communications
for the 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. He was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Milwaukee Chapter 324.
Joseph
Ciullo died June 18, 2006, in Sweet Home, Oregon,
from Agent Orange-related diabetes type II and kidney failure.
He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on February 17,
1937. He served in the U.S. Air Force and served TDY in Vietnam
while stationed in Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines
from 1968-69. Ciullo also was stationed at Udorn Air Base
in Thailand from August 1970-71. He was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Albany Chapter 585.
Leon R. Cochenour,
Jr., 56, died July 12, 2006, in Topeka, Kansas. The cause
of death was hepatitis C and liver failure. He served in
the U.S. Army as a medic from September 1969 to May 1975
with the 47th Field Hospital of the 1st Medical Group.
He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Combat Medical Badge
and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Tecumseh Chapter 604.
Terry Dale Coe,
55, died September 4, 2006, at his home in Richmond, Indiana,
after a long bout with cancer. He served in the U.S. Marine
Corps in Vietnam with the First Marine Division. He was a
life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Richmond Chapter
777.
David L. Davis, 65, died recently in Jackson,
Michigan. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Jackson Chapter 371.
Darrell
Hubbard Dake, 75, died August 28, 2006, in Burleson, Texas,
from brain cancer. He served in the U.S. Air Force with tours
of duty in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and retired
after 20 years. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Fort
Worth Chapter 330.
John Michael DeFrangesco,
50, died March 2, 2001, in North Cape May, New Jersey, from
lung cancer. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1970-73,
with a tour of duty in Germany with Company D, 43rd Engineer
Battalion during the Vietnam era. He was a life member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-North Cape May Chapter 602.
Richard
C. Delsi, 77, died recently in Holland, Michigan. He was
a veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Santa Rosa (California) Chapter 223.
Jeptha
Weldon Dennis, Jr., 75, died January 28, 2006, in
Warner Robins, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Air Force for
30 years and retired at the rank of Colonel (O-6) with service
in Vietnam. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Warner
Robins Chapter 902.
Thomas E. Duchow, 58, died August 16,
2006, at Harmony West of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, from brain
cancer. Duchow served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty
in Vietnam. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Manitowoc
Chapter 731.
Gregory Dunn, 55, died recently in McLeansville,
North Carolina. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Brookings (Oregon)
Chapter 757.
Elwin H. Emery, 62, died November 7, 2005,
in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, from heart failure. He served
in the U.S. Army with a tour in Vietnam from 1967-68. He
was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Phoenixville
Chapter 436.
Anna M. Finley, 81, died July 29, 2006, at the
Laurels of Coldwater, Michigan. She was a member of Associates
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Coldwater Chapter 730.
Jose M. Forte,
61, died May 16, 2006, in Miami, Florida, from Agent Orange-
related cancer. Born in Havana, Cuba, he served in the U.S.
Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968-69 with Company
D, 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry, 199th Light Infantry Brigade.
Forte was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Miami Chapter
620.
Jon-Lee Freeman died recently in Minnesota. He was a
veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Anoka Chapter 470.
Joe Manuel Galvan, 62, died
Mary 17, 2006, in Victoria, Texas, from a heart attack. He
served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam and
attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Victoria Chapter 898 and was in his second
term as chapter secretary.
Michael
J. Gott, 75, died recently in Kailua, Hawaii. He was a veteran
of the Vietnam War. Gott was an at-large life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Hawaii.
Jimmie W. Griffin, 59, died August
26, 2006, in Schulenburg, Texas, from a heart attack. He
served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1966 for three
years and ten months as a jet aircraft mechanic with duty
stations in Hamilton AFB, California; Montague-Yreka Rohrer
Field at Yreka, California; and nearly 15 months in Tripoli,
Libya. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Schulenburg
Chapter 870.
Dominick Guiglano, 57,
died April 6, 2005, in New York, from acute congestive heart
failure, coronary artery disease, and myocardial infarction.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-69 and did a tour in
Vietnam aboard the USS Constellation CVA64. He was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Farmingville Chapter 11.
Sandra
Jeanne Hackworth, 64, died September 6, 2006, in Hixson,
Tennessee, from a pulmonary embolism. She was a member of
Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America-Chattanooga Chapter
203.
Patrick S. Hamlin, 56, died January 3, 2006, in Lincoln,
Nebraska, from Agent Orange-related cancer. He was a veteran
of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Lincoln
Chapter 727.
John V. Hannan, 52, was killed in a motor vehicle
accident near Clarksburg, West Virginia, on September 1,
2006. He was a member of Associates of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Bennington Chapter 601.
Alvin Hansen, 71, died June
4, 2003, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S.
Army during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Oconomowoc Chapter 635.
Jerome S. Harding,
58, died June 4, 2006, in Jupiter, Florida, from cancer.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Harding was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Palm Beach Gardens Chapter
680.
Cecil D. Harper, 57, died September 1, 2006, in Tyler,
Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 1962 to May 1979
with an in-country tour in Vietnam. He retired as a naval
commander. He was a member and assistant chaplain to Vietnam
Veterans of America-Tyler Chapter 932.
Harold Dwight Harrah,
57, died in an automobile collision September 12, 2006, in
Saint Petersburg, Florida. He served in the U.S. Army during
the Vietnam War. Harrah was a member, past treasurer, and
budget committee chairman of Vietnam Veterans of America-Indian
Rocks Beach Chapter 522.
David W. Hellen, 55, died November
1, 2006, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, from a massive heart
attack. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Hellen was a life member and past president of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Pasadena (California) Chapter 446 and Vietnam
Veterans of America-St. Petersburg Chapter 943.
Bruce C. “Red” Henderson,
56, died October 27, 2006, at his home in North Cape May,
New Jersey, from liver cancer. He served in the U.S. Navy
with two combat tours in Vietnam as a gunner of riverboats
from 1969-73. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-North Cape May Chapter 602.
Robert
James Hendrix, 55, died January 12, 2006, in Topeka. He served
in the U.S. Marine Corps with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Hendrix was an active life member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Tecumseh Chapter 604.
Richard W. Hider, 67, died recently
in Orchard Park, New York. He was a veteran of the Vietnam
War and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Lewiston
Chapter 681.
Frederick A. Hogan, 56, died September 28, 2006,
in Mattydale, New York, from respiratory failure, pneumonia
and lung metastases, and squamous cell larynx cancer. He
served in the U.S. Navy with three tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Syracuse Chapter
103.
William Clyde Hopkins, 71, died July 24, 2005, in Texarkana,
Arkansas, from renal cell carcinoma. He served in the U.S.
Navy from 1951-71 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and
retired after 20 years. Hopkins was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Texarkana Chapter 278.
Douglas Allen Hunter, 66,
died October 6, 2006, in Ottumwa, Iowa, from cancer. He served
in the U.S. Navy from 1959-70 and retired with 20 years’ service.
He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Hunter was a member
and past vice-president of Vietnam Veterans of America-Ottumwa
Chapter 667.
Michael W. Jackson, 58, died April 4, 2006, in
Texarkana, Texas, from a clot to the heart. He served in
the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a life member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Texarkana Chapter 278. He
was the chapter chaplain and member of the board of directors.
Jim
Jolliffe died in 2004, in North Platte, Nebraska. He served
in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a life member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Oconomowoc Chapter 635.
James
Edward Kay, 59, died September 9, 2006, at home in Canton,
North Carolina. He served in the United States Navy with
service in the Vietnam War. Kay was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Clyde Chapter 980.
Clayton Edward Keeling, Jr., 56, died March 13, 2006, in Strongsville, Ohio. He served
in the U.S. Marine Corps with service in Vietnam and was
awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Lakewood Chapter 249.
Thomas Joseph Kelly,
63, died December 11, 2005, in Clarksville, Tennessee, from
cancer. He served in the U.S. Army with two tours in Vietnam
and retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Kelly was
a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Clarksville Chapter
396.
Galen Kittleson, 81, died May 4, 2006, at the Mayo Clinic
in Rochester, Minnesota, from cancer. He entered the U.S.
Army during World War II and was airborne and served in the
South Pacific. He helped free prisoners from the Bataan Death
March from the Cabanatuan Prison. He retired at the rank
of Command Sergeant Major (E-9). He was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Lake Mills Chapter 790.
Max Victor Koenig,
53, died October 5, 2006, in Nevada, Missouri. He served
in the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam
War. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Nevada
Chapter 918.
Larce Kyzar, 55, died August 30, 2006, in Greenwell
Springs, Louisiana. Kyzar was a veteran of the Vietnam War
and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Baton Rouge
Chapter 488.
Milton Rosco Lawson, 63, died October 18, 2006,
in Kinston, North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Air Force
during the Vietnam War. Lawson was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Kinston Chapter 892.
Dennis R. Leary, 56, died
September 26, 2005, in Millbury, Massachusetts. He was a
veteran of the Vietnam War. Leary was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Auburn Chapter 554.
William Gary Lee,
Sr., 73, died July 21, 2006, in Cumberland, Maryland. He
served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years with three tours
in Vietnam.
Dennis S. Lepka, Sr., 56, died March 13, 2006,
in Morgantown, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Marine
Corps during the Vietnam War. Lepka was a life member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Morgantown Chapter 306.
Johnny
Long, 59, died August 19, 2006, in Clearwater, Florida, from
a heart attack. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of
duty in Vietnam in 1967. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Indian Rocks Beach Chapter 522.
Dennis Wayne Lowry,
58, died August 5, 2006, in Livonia, Michigan, of complications
from the removal of a brain tumor. He served in the U.S.
Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam from May 1969 to April
1970. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Plymouth
Chapter 528.
John A. Macik, 61, died May 2, 2005, in Plymouth,
Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from April 1962 to September
1964 with service in the Vietnam War. He was a life member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Plymouth Chapter 528.
James
Leroy Mankins, 62, died August 2, 2006, in Newton, Wisconsin.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Mankins was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Manitowoc
Chapter 731.
Raymond L. Marcil, Jr., 63, died October 2, 2006,
in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Navy during
the Cuban Missile Crisis and also in the Vietnam War aboard
the USS Saratoga. He attained the rank of Boiler Technician
Petty Officer 3rd Class. Marcil was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Springfield Chapter 111.
Charles F. McNemar,
55, was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Canton, Ohio,
on October 14, 2006. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War
and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Sharon Lane (Canton)
Memorial Chapter 199.
William B. Meytrotte, 62, died recently
in Pennington, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps
with a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967-68. Meytrotte was
a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Flemington Chapter
452.
Herbert F. Miller, Jr., 58, died July 13, 2006, in New
Bedford, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War
and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America - New Bedford
Chapter 499.
Kenneth L. Mills, 58, died August 14, 2006, in
Great Bend, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during the
Vietnam War. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Hays
Chapter 939.
Norman B. Morsbach died recently in Flemington,
New Jersey. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Morsbach
was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Flemington Chapter
452.
Gary E. Myers, 52, died February
8, 2006, in Porterville, California, from Creutzfeldt Jakob
disease and cardiopulmonary arrest. He served in the U.S.
Air Force during the Vietnam War. Myers was a life member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Exeter Chapter 441.
Robert
E. Norris, 73, died April 28, 2006, in Clarksville, Tennessee,
from cancer. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour in
Vietnam in an Airborne Division. He served in Vietnam from
March 1967-70 at the Dong Ha Army Base. He was also on
the ground in Indochina when the French pulled out. He
was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Clarksville
Chapter 396.
Michael Joseph Novosel died April 2 at Walter
Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., at the age
of 83. He served in the U.S. Army as an aviator. He was a
veteran pilot of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam and retired
at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Novosel was awarded
the Medal of Honor for heroic action in October 1969: with
total disregard for his own safety, he recovered 29 men
pinned down by a large enemy force, completing 15 hazardous
extractions. On the last flight, Novosel was wounded and
momentarily lost control of his aircraft, but he recovered
and flew to safety. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Daleville Chapter 373.
Richard T. Nuske, 69, died
June 10 Shawano, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Air Force
from 1968-73 with in-country service in Vietnam. Nuske was
a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Shawano Chapter
206.
David A. Nyberg died from a heart attack May 24 in Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota, at the age of 53. He served in the U.S.
Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Nyberg was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Roseville Chapter 320.
Michael
Stewart O’Neill, Jr., 59, died September 21,
2006, in Camillus, New York, from respiratory failure and
metastatic kidney cancer, which he fought for seven years.
He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
O’Neill was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Syracuse
Chapter 103.
Arthur S. “C Bear” Ott , 61, died
May 15, 2006, at home in Mohrsville, Pennsylvania, of natural
causes. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Ott was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Reading
Chapter 131.
Dennis Marin Perry died April 10 in Santa Rosa,
California, at the age of 59. He died of complications from
Agent Orange-related diabetes mellitis. He was born on the
Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on January 7, 1947. He
served in the U.S. Army, with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Santa Rosa
Chapter 223.
Bob Potocki, 57, died recently in Enola, Pennsylvania.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Mount Clemens (Michigan) Chapter
154.
Daniel R. Plumadore, 54, died August 2, 2005, in Springfield,
Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with
the 101st Airborne Division where he was awarded the Bronze
Star. Plumadore was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Springfield
Chapter 866.
Elbert W. Price died July 7 in Lawton, Oklahoma,
at the age of 61. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Price was
a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Lawton Chapter 751.
Adrian
Paul Pruitt, 56, died in Memphis of heart failure. He served
in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with a tour of duty
from 1968-69. He also served in the Mississippi Army National
Guard with the 155th in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Pruitt was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Verona
Chapter 842.
Michael J. Quinn died April 18 in San Francisco.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and an at-large member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-California.
Dean Edwin Reynolds,
68, died July 29, 2006, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He served
in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years with service in the Vietnam
War. He was the Director of “Our
House” Drug Crisis Intervention Center in Fort Worth,
Texas. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Dallas-Fort
Worth Chapter 137 and held the office of president for many
years. He was also the VVA Service Representative Officer
for the Dallas VA Medical Center.
Christine Rhea died recently
in Clinton Corner, New York. She was a veteran of the Vietnam
War and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Pleasantville
Chapter 49.

Glenn O. Roller, 76, died July 13,
2006, in Saint Marys, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army for

Roberto Montoya
Sanchez died of cancer March 1 in Roswell, New Mexico, at
the age of 65. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of
duty in Vietnam. He lived through the Battle of the Ia Drang
Valley, November 14-17, 1965. He was
in the 1st Battalion Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, Bravo
Company, serving under Col. Hal Moore. Sanchez was a life
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Roswell Chapter 968.

Sanders, 65, died July 14, 2006, in Salina, Oklahoma. He
served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Salina Chapter 877.

Santos, 73, died September 7, 2006, in Pocatello, Idaho.
Santos was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member
of Vietnam Veterans of Pocatello Chapter 901.
Kelly Dean Scarce,
58, died August 24, 2006, in Marietta, Oklahoma. He was a
veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Pauls Valley Chapter 846.
Richard Thomas Schaffer,
60, died October 5, 2006, in Jamestown, New York, from cancer.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from September
1966 until his discharge in July 1969 as an Air Defense Radar
Repairman. Schaffer was a long-time member of the National
Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers. He also was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Jamestown Chapter 865.
John
W. Schmucker died June 4, 2005, in Yountville, California,
at the age of 81. The cause of death was heart failure. He
served in the U.S. Navy with service in the Vietnam War.
Schmucker was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Yountville
Chapter 702.
Dietmar Schneider, 58, died February 14, 2006,
at his home in Beloit, Wisconsin, from a stroke due to a
brain tumor attributed to Agent Orange. He served in the
U.S. Army from January 1968 to October 1970 with a tour of
duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He attained
the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Schneider was a life member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Janesville Chapter 236.
Robert
L. Schrems, 55, died September 30, 2006, in East Aurora,
New York. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam
War. Schrems was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Buffalo
Chapter 77.
Wilfred H. Seetoo died recently in Glendora, California.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Pasadena Chapter 446.
Richard Wayne Sellers,
Sr., 59, died August 10, 2006, at his home in Cumberland,
Maryland, from metabolic encephalopathy, respiratory failure,
and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He served in the
U.S. Army from December 1966-69 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Cumberland
Chapter 172.
Robert E. Seredy died July 26 in Cleveland at
the age of 65. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam
War and was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Parma
Chapter 15.
John Hoffman Shimer, 60, died October 26,
2005, in Bedford, Pennsylvania, from exsanguinations due
to a rupture of the artery on the left side of the head.
He had a history of cancer of the left ear. Shimer served
in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-73 and served in Vietnam
for 24 months and left the service at the rank of Captain.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Cumberland
Chapter 172.
Paul T. Shrum was murdered June 15 in Pikeville,
Maryland, at the age of 62. He served in the Maryland Army
National Guard during the Vietnam era and was called up for
riot control after the assassination of Martin Luther King,
Jr. He
was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Baltimore Chapter
451.
Stan Sirmans died recently in Pensacola, Florida. A veteran
of the Vietnam War, Sirmans was a life member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Arlington Chapter 227.
Stephen D. Skidmore,
56, died May 28, 2005, in Palm Bay, Florida, from cancer.
He served in the U.S. Air Force with service in Vietnam.
Skidmore was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-New

Gerald T. Slabosz died recently in Bridgeview,
Illinois, at the age of 58. He was a veteran of the Vietnam
War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Chicago Chapter
209.
Thomas
Michael Slazas, 59, died May 4 in Eastpointe, Michigan. He
died of esophageal cancer, massive upper GI bleeding, and
multi-system organ failure. Slazas served in the U.S. Marine
Corps in Vietnam. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Roseville Chapter 154.
Larry K. Smith, 60, died March
18 in Waterford, Michigan, of Agent Orange- related diabetes
and congestive heart failure. He served in the U.S. Army
in Vietnam from 1966-68 as an infantryman. Smith was a member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Port Huron Chapter 284.
Mikel
G. Stegall died from heart failure January 23 in
Borger, Texas, at the age of 60. He served in the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War. Stegall was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Stinnett Chapter 404.
Michael A. Stipp, 53, died
March 15, 2005, in Wichita. He was a veteran of the Vietnam
War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Clearwater
Chapter 934.
Wayne Stockinger died recently in Anniston, Alabama. He was a member of Associates
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Anniston Chapter 502.
James
Lenoir Stuart died May 7 at his home in Hixson, Tennessee,
at the age of 60. The cause of death was chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour
of duty in Vietnam from 1968-69. Stuart was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Soddy-Daisy Chapter 942.
Dolores A. Swoboda,
80, died April 15 in Baltimore. She was a member of Associates
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Baltimore Chapter 451.
James
H. Taylor died April 20 in Caldwell, Idaho, at the age of
64. Taylor was a veteran of the Vietnam War and an at-large
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-New Mexico.
John I.
Taylor, Sr., 64, died July 15, 2006, at his home
in Topeka, Kansas, from Agent Orange-related cancer and PTSD.
He served in the U.S. Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam
and other tours in Korea, Japan, and Okinawa. He retired
from the Army after a long career. Taylor was also a life
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Tecumseh Chapter 604.
Louis S. Taylor died July 3 in Virginia
Beach, Virginia, at the age of 63. He served in the U.S.
Marine Corps in Vietnam from November 1974 to July 1975.
Taylor was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Virginia

Wayne C. Taylor died recently in Redondo
Beach, California. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and

from liver disease. He served in the U.S. Air Force during
