PURPOSE AND MISSION

The purpose and mission of the ET&BO Committee is to advocate for and develop programs that improve the economic well being of veterans and their families in the government and private sector.

GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS CONSIDERED

Geographical Areas to consider include the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and other territories where American veterans live and work.

AREAS OF CONCERN 
  • Jobs in the public & private sector
  • Veterans who own or wish to own small businesses
  • Identify appropriate training to enhance quality of life for veterans and their families.
  • Participation in organizations united in helping veterans with working and/or owning their own business.
  • Participation in organizations united in seeking veteran’s preference in all federal, state and local government hiring.
  • Need to update “VVA’s Guide to Veterans Employment” and “VVA’s Guide to Veterans Preference”
  • Need to develop a “VVA’s Guide to Small Business Ownership and Expansion” and VVA’s Guide to Vocational Rehabilitation”

SELECTION PROCESS FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP 

Initial nomination to the committee will be selected by the Committee Chair and approved by the Board of Directors (BOD) of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).  Those nominated will be selected from those desiring to serve and have expertise or are willing to assist veterans and the Committee in accomplishing its Purpose & Mission(s).  After initial set up of the Committee, new members will be added or deleted as determined by the suggestions and vote of the Committee and approved by the BOD of VVA.  This determination to add new members will be based on the needs of the Committee, the area(s) of interest and skills in a particular segment of the Committee and the endorsement of the prospective members State Council President.  The determination of withdrawal of members will be based on performance in the area(s) the member has volunteered to assist with.
