Thomas Benard, Father and Son
Thomas A. Benard (above, right) served two tours in Vietnam in 1965-67 with the Navy Seabees' Mobil Construction Battalion 8 in Danang and Chu lai. Two decades later in 1986, his son, Thomas R. Benard (above,left), graduated from high school in Manchester, New Hampshire, and joined the U.S. Air Force. Five years later, when he was discharged, he joined the Army National Guard. When he signed up for active duty with the U.S. Army this year, he was appointed commander of Headquarters Company at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
