Douglas Perkins
Greetings, I am Douglas Perkins and I am running for
Director at Large. I'm divorced and have two children
and four grandchildren. I proudly served our country
in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1989 when I retired.
While serving with they Navy I was station onboard the
USS Wabash Aor-5 from 1970 to 1972 in territory water
off Vietnam as Naval gunfire Support. I join VVA
Chapter 48 in February 1944 and have been actively
involved since that day. I have served on the Board of
directors since 1994. In 1995 serve as 1st Vice
President. In 1996 to 2001 serve as Chapter President.
I have been Chairman of Chapter POW/MIA, Membership,
legislative, as well as serving on various other
committees. At the State level have been a state
delegate since 1994. Chairman State POW/MIA committee
as well as serving on Constitution and By-Law,
Scholarship, State regional director, membership task
force. At the National level I serve on the POW/MIA
committee and Vice Chair Veterans against Drugs. Also
as special advisory on Policy and Procedure for AVVA.
In 1999 I became interested in the activities of
National office an have attended national meeting
ANCTN. National must remain accountable and available
to it membership. We need to identify and seek
additional potential sources of revenue to expand
Veterans benefits. Seek more legislation on
healthcare. Seek more service officers who are VVA
trained. Also communication at all levels. I will do
all that is in my power to insure these things. |
