2003 Candidates Statements
Fred Elliott I served in Vietnam from January to December of 1967 with the Army's 9th Infantry and the 11th Armored Cavalry. In 1983 I joined the VVA, becoming a Life Member in 1987. I have served as Chapter President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director. Currently I am an At-Large Director on the National Board.
I have been a delegate to 8 Conventions and the Rules Committee chair for two. In March 2002 I was appointed to the Membership Committee and in November 2002, I was appointed to the Finance Committee. In January of 2003, I was appointed to the Resolutions Committee. I have also been a member of the Constitution Committee and the Vice-chair of the Government Affairs Committee.
Although it has been rewarding, serving as an At-large Director, it will be even more so as the Region Director. I bring to the postion a wealth of knowledge and experience that will enable me to be the director the Region deserves. I understand VVA and how it works on the National and Chapter levels. And my terms as a delegate to the New York State Council gave me insight on how a State Council works.
