Billee Culin A
day in my life that I will never forget was January
10, 1969, the day I joined the US Army. Being a naïve
young woman, I felt my joining the Army would help to
end the God-awful war in Vietnam. Now I am a
"seasoned'' woman and no longer naïve. I learned a lot
during my time in the service working in the Joint
Chiefs of Staff Office in the Pentagon and in the
years that have followed.
I have been serving my brothes and sisters since I
went to college from 1976 to 1980. I helped other Nam
Vets during my college years. In 1999 I joined VVA.
Since 2000 I have been Secretary of Chapter 120 in
Hartford, CT. In July 2002 I was elected Vice
President of the CT State council. In September 2002 I
became the president. I am the Connecticut Director of
the Order of the Silver Rose working for recognition
of our brothers and sisters who are sickened
because of Agent Orange or who have died because of
it.
I believe we're a membership-driven organization and
much must be done to help our family and to bring in
our brothers and sisters who have yet to join the VVA
family and to keep the members we currently have. The
national elected body MUST work for us. That's why
they are elected.
Give me the opportunity to serve you and I will give
you my all 100% if not more. |
