Darrol L. Brown
As a Vietnam era veteran, I feel it is my
responsibility to serve as a member of the most
dynamic service organization for veterans. Although I
never served in Vietnam, my active duty included
serving from May '72 to Mar '73 at Ramasun Army
Station, Nan Sung, Thailand, with the US Air Force
Security Service's 6924th Security Squadron as a
communication analyst. The highlight of my SEA timne
included Linebacker II and the POW Freedom Birds. I
also spent Oct '70 to Mar '72 with the 6920th Security
Group, Misawa Air Base, Japan.
My first exposure to VVA happened at the 1994 National
Leadership Conference. In February 1995 I became a
member of Carson Area Chapter 388, Carson City,
Nevada, as a member of the Reflection Awards Banquet
committee. 388 elected me Chatper President in 1996.
Nevada State
Council elected me Vice-President in 1998. I served 4
years in each position and currently serve as 388's
Treasurer. In 2001 Alan Cook appointed me his
Alternate Region Director. I attended the 1996
Leadership Conference and 1997 and 1999 National
Conventions.
If elected Region IX Director, I will concentrate on
building membership from within existing chapters and
state councils. I also plan to develop Region IX
Resolutions to accomplish between conventions and
employ the state council presidents as the Regional
Advisory Council. All
Region IX agendas, decisions, goals and objectives
will be approved at Region IX meetings held at least 3
times each year. Let's continue the legacy. |
