Wes Guidry, VVA’s longtime
coordinator of National Meetings and Special Events, has been
selected a "eeting Professional To Watch in 2003" by a panel of
experts selected by ConventionSouth magazine. Wes, the
man in charge of the minute-to-minute activities at VVA’s
National Conventions and Leadership Conferences, lives in Lake
Charles, Louisiana. He was cited by ConventionSouth for
his "outstanding professionalism, creativity, and dedication to
the meetings and convention industry." He was the subject of a
profile in the magazine’s December 2002 issue.
"This honor sounds like I’m doing
something special that others should emulate," Guidry said. "But
to me what I’m doing is common sense. Instead of considering the
hotel to be the enemy, I try to develop a friendship and rapport
and built a good working relationship. That way, I can tell them
what we need and they can tell me what they can do."
"Wes has been a very valuable
asset to VVA," noted VVA President Tom Corey. "This award shows
that meeting professionals know what we do, that Wes is great at
what he does, which is to make our Conventions and Leadership
Conferences run smoothly and efficiently. It’s a Herculean job
and Wes comes through for VVA time after time."
