Joyce Koprowski is from Richmond,
Maine, where she was born into a family of five. After
graduating from high school in 1971, Koprowski attended nursing
school for a year until it closed. She became a military wife.
She has worked as a school bus
driver, teacher's aide, waitress, and Tupperware manager.
Koprowski attended American University in Washington, D.C.,
where she received her training as a Veterans Service Officer (VSO).
She served as a VVA VSO.
She is a past AVVA liaison for
Incarcerated Chapter 195 in Zephyrhills, Florida, State
Associate Liaison, and Region 4 Associate Liaison. She was
surprised to be honored by the Chapel of Four Chaplains in 2001.
Her favorite hobbies are quilting, sewing, and detailed hardwork,
much of which is donated to veterans' causes. She especially
likes doing quilts with patriotic themes. She donated a
star-spangled quilt to the silent auction at the National
Leadership Conference and another for her state newsletter fund.
When she travels, she takes a quilt along so that she will have
something to do. She is making a quilt with a design for each
state that she has traveled to. When completed, it will tell the
story of her travels.
Koprowski and her husband, John,
have been married 15 years and live in Florida with their son
and three daughters.
