My involvement with Chapter 25 in
Lake Worth, Florida, began when I started taking photographs.
Six months later the chapter chose to pay my membership in AVVA.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Corey at a chapter meeting.
Tom is the Founding President of Chapter 25. In 1991, the
chapter was named the Thomas H. Corey Chapter in his honor.
Attending this Leadership
Conference, I have come to see Tom in a different light. The
more I get to know Tom, the more I view him as a precious gem-a
diamond. He has many facets, and he does not allow his
disability to hamper his activities or his accomplishments.
In our brief conversation I
learned about another side of Tom. He enjoys dining out. That
created an opportunity for the chapter to gather for a meal at a
Vietnamese restaurant. The goal of the evening was to embrace
the Vietnamese community and become friends.
Although Tom is very busy as
national president, he enjoys spending time with his 20-year-old
son Brian, and his daughter Trang, 16. Brian is a student at
Palm Beach Community College. Trang is a sophomore at Cardinal
Newman High School in West Palm Beach.
Tom continues to fight for all
veterans, past, present, and future, in order to secure and
protect benefits they have earned serving our country.
