Commit to Life
MISSION STATEMENT

A collaborative effort between Vietnam Veterans of America, members of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, local community groups, antidrug programs, the clergy, law enforcement, and educators has formed to reduce the effects of drugs and violence on our local youth. Veterans will visit classrooms to stress the five core values of the Veterans Against Drugs Program. These core values are:

  • Camaraderie

    Compassion

    Integrity

    Meaningful Achievement

  • Advocacy

Our theme "Commit to Life" is designed to help youth develop responsibility, good judgment, and commitment to their families, schools, communities, and each other.Veterans visit students in schools, detention centers, and youth organizations to educate and demonstrate support. Veterans also participate in the many programs already in place to support our youth.Students who sign up for our program will be visited by veterans at least five times per year to discuss the core values. Awards or recognition will be given to each student who fulfills his or her contract.

This program is done on a community basis with support from the hosting community and local organizations. If you are interested in joining the Veterans Against Drugs Program, please contact: Dave Simmons
