D.C.)--Vietnam Veterans of America, the nation’s only
congressionally chartered veterans service organization
dedicated to the needs of Vietnam-era veterans, today announced
the appointment of Barry Hagge as Chief Information Officer. Mr.
Hagge, currently serving a second term as National Secretary
of Vietnam Veterans of America, was appointed to the position
of CIO by the VVA National Board of Directors at its April 12
meeting. In this position, Mr. Hagge will be responsible for
all aspects of the organization’s technology infrastructure
and strategy.
“Barry Hagge’s over 39 years in the computer industry
and his technological expertise, combined with his broad knowledge
of veterans’ affairs and his virtual vision, have allowed
VVA’s communications systems to evolve at a rapid pace.
We are fortunate to have Barry’s tremendous experience
at a critical time in our organization’s growth. As National
Secretary, his knowledge of security systems has been invaluable,
ensuring that VVA’s membership is safe from identity theft.

A member of Vietnam Veterans of America since 1988, Mr. Hagge
has served as chair of the VVA National Constitution Committee,
as treasurer and executive vice president of the VVA Pennsylvania
State council, and in numerous positions on the board of directors
of his home chapter, VVA Chapter 349 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
He serves as Secretary of the Oley Township, Pennsylvania, Zoning
Board, and is a member of the Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion
of Honor.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and raised in Boyertown, Barry
enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school in
1964. He served offshore in Vietnam on the U.S.S Galveston in
1965 and in the Naval Support Activity Danang on the YFU-60 in
1966-1967. After his discharge, Barry took advantage of the G.I.
Bill and obtained a certificate in Computer Programming, after
which he went to work in the manufacturing and banking industries.
Currently, he is employed as a Manager of Information Security
Compliance and Audit at a major financial services company.
Barry and his wife Dee are the parents of Cindy and grandparents
of Taryn and Madison. |
