| (Washington,
D.C.) – Vietnam Veterans of America has teamed
up with Boston Publishing Company, the publisher of the acclaimed
book series, The Vietnam Experience, to create a
special commemorative book, The Wall, which will
be published on November 10 as part of VVA’s 25th Anniversary
Parade in Washington honoring the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The Wall celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and documents its fascinating history--from its controversial inception in 1982 to its evolution as the most visited and venerated memorial in our nation’s capital. Features include award-winning fiction and poetry on the Vietnam War, the photography of famed Vietnam War photographer Larry Burrows (including photos featured in The Vietnam Experience book series), Maya Lin’s original sketches and design statement, a tribute to the women who served in Vietnam, personal stories of extraordinary journeys to The Wall, letters and offerings from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Collection, an evocative photo essay of The Wall, and more.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime publication,” said VVA National President John Rowan. “We are very pleased that our resources have been combined with those of Boston Publishing to create a book that will be a valuable keepsake and an important reference tool for Vietnam veterans and for generations to come.”
Proceeds of the sale of this commemorative book will help
VVA’s
many programs, including veterans’ benefits assistance
and housing programs for Vietnam War, Gulf War, Afghanistan
War, and Iraq War veterans. For more information and to order
