Looking Back And Forward

As we begin the New Year, let’s take a moment to reflect on 2009 in VVA. A short summary would be “A No.1.” Here are some of the achievements:

1) Membership in VVA is over 61,000

2) VVA has a new home at 8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910

3) VVA is updating and expanding our database with new programming

4) Redundant submittal of the DD-214 after Chapter elections is no longer required

5) Standardization of the election reporting (State Council and Chapter) deadline to July 15th of the year in which the elections take place, which matches the financial reporting deadline

6) The filing of annual financial report (State Council and Chapter) may be extended three months by submitting a copy of the “Application for Extension of Time to File an Exempt Organization Return” that was filed with the IRS to the State Council or Corporation by July 15th

The committee will have a new membership application available in early 2010, and there are revised membership forms being posted to the VVA web site for your convenience.  Your comments or suggestions for improving your membership experience with VVA are always welcome.
