Lechuga took part in Operations Baby Lift and New Life during the fall of Saigon in April 1975. His son, SPC Marco L. Lechuga, an H-60 Black Hawk helicopter crew chief, is serving his second tour of duty in Iraq with the Arizona National Guard.
