George Judson Commins died July 3 in White River
Junction, Vermont, of leukemia. He was born June 14, 1924.
Commins joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II,
Korea, and Vietnam as a medic with the 25th Infantry Division,
65th Battalion, Corps of Engineers. During his service in
Korea he was awarded a battlefield commission and the Bronze
Star with "V" Device for Valor. He was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Essex Junction Chapter

Kenneth Don David, 60, died November 17 in Birmingham.
He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years as a Chief Warrant
Officer and was a Vietnam veteran. David was a member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Athens Chapter 511, a VVA Service
Representative Officer, and was named 1995 Veteran of the Year
by the Alabama VVA State Council.
Harry E. Flauaus died recently in Bowling Green,
Missouri. He was born February 10, 1922. Flauaus was a veteran
of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Bowling Green Chapter 833.
Alfred George Harris died July 8 in Athol,
Massachusetts, of cardiac and liver failure. He was born in
Montague, Massachusetts, on November 21, 1948. Harris was a
veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Athol Chapter 340.
Jerry Joshua Hoopert died November 1 in Sharpsburg,
Maryland, of cancer. He was born January 5, 1935. Hoopert
served in the U.S. Army and in the Vietnam War. He
retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of Vietnam
Veterans of America-Cumberland Chapter 172.
Earle C. Irwin died August 4 in Daleville, Alabama, of
lung cancer. He was born June 6, 1941. Irwin served in the

Doris Turner Nock Jones died November 10 in Nassawadox,
Virginia, of cancer. She was born April 21, 1934. Jones was a

Johnny Odell McCulloch, 54, died September 23 in Muscle
Shoals, Alabama. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Athens Chapter 511.
Richard W. Newman died recently in Chaparral, New
Mexico. He was born February 9, 1931. Newman was a veteran of
the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of
American-El Paso Chapter 844.
Bernard Odom died August 25 in Kearneyville, West
Virginia. He was born July 23, 1947. Odom served in the U.S.
Marine Corps from 1970-75. He was a Vietnam veteran and a life
member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Cumberland (Maryland)
Chapter 172.
Charles D. Reighard died April 11 in Conroy, Iowa, of
non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was born October 24, 1944. Reighard
served in the U.S. Army with service in Vietnam from
1967-68. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Des Moines Chapter 490.
John F. Richards died October 28 in Ellensburg,
Washington, of Agent Orange-related cancer. He was born on
January 14, 1950. Richards served in the U.S. Coast Guard for
four years and served in Vietnam in 1966. He was a member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Ellensburg Chapter 514.
Jonathan F. Sweet died June 28 in Omaha, Nebraska. He
was born August 20, 1944. Sweet was a veteran of the
Vietnam War. He was an at-large member with the state of
Nebraska.
